Tax officer prosecuted for insider dealing

A tax officer has been prosecuted for insider dealing. Lawrence Henry Champion gained price sensitive information through his work at Inland Revenue and used it to his advantage in 1997 and 1998.

This is one of the few successful prosecutions that have been brought for insider dealing, which is notoriously difficult to prove.
